All Counselors are required to be 21 years of age, have experience working with children, complete an extensive application procedure, provide three written references, pass a background check conducted by the Colorado Department of Human Services, receive First Aid/CPR certification, and submit to a fingerprint search through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. In addition, counselors participate in a week-long orientation in which they receive professional training in the areas of child abuse and neglect, reporting laws, eating disorders, camp policies and camp safety. Prior to the first day of each session, counselors review designated camper files and take notes on health problems, medication, special dietary needs and other exceptional circumstances.
