SIX-WEEK PRE-PROFESSIONAL INTENSIVE
For students entering 11th grade - College

2010 SESSION:
Friday, June 18 - Sunday, August 1

Pre-Professional Intensive is a program designed for the serious student interested in pursuing a career in the arts. Class placements and production casting for theater, dance and musical productions are held within the first few days of camp. Residential students take five classes daily and participate in evening rehearsals six days a week. Saturday is the only full day off.

The last three weeks of camp culminate in three spectacular, sell-out productions: a play, a dance concert, and a musical. The final Friday of the program is Showcase Day, where students present what they have learned in class. Students interested in attending the Pre-Professional Intensive are required to submit an enrollment video and three confidential letters of recommendation to be considered for acceptance, and must sign a contract to enroll. Enrollment will not be granted until all information is received along with the required deposit.

Daily Routine

RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS
Paul_Taylor_1For Residential Students
, each program is structured to meet the needs of the student's ages with appropriate classes and activities. There is some free time each day, but residential students are busy from breakfast into the evening hours.

A typical day begins at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and cabin chores.

Monday through Friday, there are classes and planned activities throughout the day, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 or 5:30 p.m., with some free time before and after lunch.

Young Artist and Pre-Professional students have rehearsal periods both before and after dinner, while Residential Junior students have an evening activity period after dinner.

For Young Artist & Pre-Professional students, the weekends allow time for laundry, trips to town, outdoor recreational activities and camp activities such as dances, talent shows, and camp Olympics.

There are no rehearsals on Saturday, and two rehearsal periods on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00/10:00 p.m.

DAY STUDENTS
Day Students
arrive in time for their first scheduled class, activity, or rehearsal period and leave after their last scheduled class, activity, or rehearsal.

Discovery Day Camp has a set daily schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Day students  in the Junior, Young Artist and Pre-Professional programs require more flexibility. Students enrolled in less than four classes may have open periods, depending upon their individual class schedule.

Young Artist and Pre-Professional students who are participating in a performance (requires a minimum of two classes) are required to be at all evening and Sunday rehearsals. No exceptions.

Junior Day students are not eligible for evening activities.

Lunch is included for all Day Students, and other meals are available for a $4.00 per-meal fee.

WHAT TO BRING
In late April students will receive a handbook specific to their program describing what they should bring to camp. Please review the list carefully, as it may include items for special projects, or specific class and and program enrollments. For all dance classes, appropriate dancewear and footwear is required. Black character shoes are required for students cast in theater and musical theater performances. For equestrian classes, long pants and a sturdy heeled boot are mandatory.
