The JUNIOR program offers a well-rounded curriculum
that includes required classes in dance, theater and musical theater,
with electives in art, creative writing and equestrian. Class placements
are held on the first full day of camp, after which each student
is assigned to an appropriate-level dance, theater and musical theater
class. Students can then choose two other classes from the list
of electives or, as approved based on class placement, from the
other dance, theater and musical theater offerings.
DANCE
JUNIOR students will explore different dance styles through
technique and Dance Sampler classes. Core classes will include Ballet,
Modern and Jazz styles, and may also encompass Tap, Afro-Carribean
Dance and Social Dancing. The Junior program offers a chance for
first explorations of dance, as well as a more intensive approach
for the student with greater experience.
THEATER
Based on class placement, JUNIOR students will be assigned to
an appropriate theater class, with other approved theater classes
available as electives.
MUSICAL THEATER
Students in the JUNIOR program will acquire a foundation for
musical theater performance through classes in musicianship, vocal
technique and ensemble repertory. At the same time, they will be
building a foundation in acting and dance through classes offered
within the theater and dance department. Song writing is offered
as an elective.
ART
Students taking art classes will learn a variety of techniques
in the areas of drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media. Students
display their artwork on Showcase Day.
CREATIVE WRITING
Students may take classes in creative writing or playwriting.
Students will have the opportunity to write, publish, and present
their own poetry, prose and plays.
EQUESTRIAN
Students can register for Equestrian classes to ride two class
periods weekly, leaving three free periods in their weekly schedule.
Students may pay an additional fee for semi-private or private lessons.
