P-M IN THE UK
For students 10th grade - College
August 10 - August 17
P-M in the UK is a study abroad program under the auspices
of Shakespeare's
Globe Education Centre in London. Led by Perry- Mansfield faculty
members, the program offers students a unique opportunity to see
professional classical theater and to study with some of London’s
premiere teaching artists.
The one-week program is intensive and fun. P-M in the
UK offers students the opportunity to see up to seven shows, ranging
from West End musicals to fringe theater, and of course, Shakespeare.
Recent shows seen by Perry-Mansfield students have included a three-person
version of The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing,
Jim Broadbent in Theater of Blood, Brian Dennehy and
Clare Higgins in Death of a Salesman, and Mary
Poppins. The Globe offers classes to Perry-Mansfield taught
by their own actors and artistic personnel. Students will take a
week of acting and voice, with a concentration on one of Shakespeare's
plays; plus a master class in movement and dramatic literature.
Students will also do a study of Shakespeare's image that sends
them on research into the British
Library, the National
Portrait Gallery, and other famous sites in London.
