Carolyn Defrin (YAI Production Director)
Carolyn is a founding member of The House Theatre of Chicago where she has performed in and collaborated on over 20 award-winning productions. She also directed their community outreach and education programs for 12 years. As an actor and teaching artist she has worked with Steppenwolf, The Goodman, Chicago Children’s Theatre, Lookingglass and Redmoon Theatres. Since moving to London in 2012 she has directed and produced theatre and film productions in both traditional and site-specific venues. She is currently pursuing a PhD, researching the role of the arts for vulnerable communities in West London.
Jesse Roth (PPI Production Director)
Jesse is a Chicago-based theatre director, writer, and producer. She is the Artistic Associate at The House Theatre of Chicago and a company member and the Literary Manager at First Floor Theater. Her recent directing projects include Cam Baby (Chimera Ensemble), Deer and the Lovers, World Builders (First Floor Theater), and The Terrible (The New Colony). She also regularly assistant directs at The House Theatre (Diamond Dogs, The Hammer Trinity, The Last Defender, Death and Harry Houdini). As a playwright, she is currently developing Little Girl, Don’t Fall with composer Matthew Muñiz (The House Theatre) and Liveaboard (First Floor Theatre). She is a graduate of the University of Chicago’s Theatre and Performance Studies program.
